New Year's Day is one among the biggest celebrations of the year and celebrations are around the world. There are cities that have huge parades , which draw attention from all over the world. Whether you want to celebrate with family or with friends, there's an New Year's Day celebration that is certain to please your tastes.

Columbus Day

Columbus Day is celebrated across the Americas on October 12 it is the date of Christopher Columbus's arrival to the New World. It is observed as an official holiday in many different countries in the Americas and also as a federal festival in United States.

Martin Luther King Jr. day

Every year on the third Monday of the month of January Americans observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day, which is a federal holiday honoring the life and celebration of this civil-rights leader and activist. His birth year was 1929. King had a significant advocate for equality of race and nonviolent civil opposition. King also fought against legal segregation and was an official Nobel Peace Prize laureate. On this day, the public are encouraged to consider his legacy as well as the principles he stood for, including peaceful coexistence and equality between races.

Thanksgiving

An early Thanksgiving festival was held by the colonists living in New England in the early 18th century as an occasion for prayer and celebration of the nation's blessings. In 1777, it was the year that U.S. Continental Congress proclaimed the holiday as a national holiday but left the actual decision to declare the holiday to the states afterwards. Therefore, Southerners were uneasy about this practice, and some even objected to the idea of using the day to host partisan rallies and parades.

Christmas

The Christmas holiday is a time to celebrate the birthday of Christ. The celebrations of Christmas include gifting gifts to family members and friends. Tradition of giving gifts originates from the 15th century. Additionally, the presents are a symbol of gratitude for the donation of Jesus to humanity. A poem composed by Clement Moore in 1822, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," has a strong religious connection. Saint Nicholas is also associated with the Christmas season. The saint was also a bishop of the first Christian church in Asia Minor, who left toys for children as well gold ornaments in stockings.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is the national celebration of the United States and Canada. It is also observed across Saint Lucia, Grenada and Liberia. The celebration began as an occasion to offer thanks for the previous year and harvest. Similar festivals are observed in Japan as well as Germany.
