DiwaliDiwali is known as the Hindu celebration of light. In Hinduism lights symbolize goodness thus, all through the celebration it is commonplace to light lamps. The festival also commemorates the traditional art of Rangoli and is believed to have been created during the period of Maharashtra. Rangoli is a vibrant design that is made of different colored materials and laid on the floor. They believe it can bring good fortune and shield homes from evil spirits.

It is observed as an official national holiday in many countries across the Americas and as a federal annual holiday for the United States.
Martin Luther King Jr. dayEvery year on the third Monday in January, Americans commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday in honor King, a civil rights activist and activist. Born in 1929, King was an influential champion of equality for all races and nonviolent civil disobedience. He also advocated against legal segregation and was an official Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Today, we are encouraged to reflect on his legacy and the values that he championed, such as the non-violent approach and the principle of racial justice.
ThanksgivingA Thanksgiving day was initially observed by the people of the colony of New England in the early 1800s, to mark the day to be a time of reflection and thanksgiving for the blessings that the nation has received. In 1777 an act of U.S. Continental Congress proclaimed it a national holiday but decided to leave the actual announcement of the holiday to States after that. This meant that Southerners were unwilling to follow this custom and some were even opposed to the holiday being used for partisan speeches and parades.
ChristmasThe Christmas season is a time when people celebrate Jesus' birth Christ. The Christmas celebrations include the giving of gifts to family and friends. The tradition of giving gifts is old-fashioned and dates back to the fifteenth century. Furthermore, the gifts represent gratitude for God's giving of Jesus to mankind. A poem written by Clement Moore in 1822, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," has a deep religious connection. Saint Nicholas is also linked to the Christmas season. A bishop was one of the saints from the early Christian religious community in Asia Minor, who left gifts for the children and even gold ornaments in stockings.
Thanksgiving DayThanksgiving Day is the national holiday of the United States and Canada. It is also observed throughout Saint Lucia, Grenada and Liberia. The holiday originated as it was a day to celebrate giving thanks to the previous year's harvest. Similar festivals are celebrated by people in Japan too. Germany.
