In 1929, King made a name for himself as an important campaigner for equality in race and nonviolent civil disobedience. King also fought against legal segregation and was an official Nobel Peace Prize laureate. On this day, people are encouraged to consider his legacy and the ideals they defended, which included the non-violent approach and the principle of racial justice.

This holiday first was observed by inhabitants of New England in the early eighteenth-century, as a day of prayer and gratitude for the blessings of our nation. In 1777 it was the year that U.S. Continental Congress proclaimed it as a national day of celebration, however, it left the celebration to the states to decide after that. As a result, Southerners were in a lull to adopt this holiday as well as some objected to the fact that the day was being used to hold partisan parades and speeches.

The Christmas holiday is when people celebrate God's birthday Christ. The Christmas celebrations are marked by gifting gifts to family members and friends. The custom of gift-giving is old-fashioned and dates back to the fifteenth century. Furthermore, gifts are a way to express gratitude for God's giving of Jesus to humanity. A poem composed by Clement Moore in 1822, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," has a significant religious connection. Saint Nicholas is also linked to the Christmas season.
