A holiday is a celebration of an important date. The holidays can be observed in different times across the calendar, or they may have a fixed date for each year. Regardless of the origin of a holiday, most people celebration it in a particular season or moment in the year. There are numerous types of holidays which is why we've listed them here.

Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve is the last day of the year when people celebrate that Jesus was born. Jesus. A lot of people celebrate the day by giving gifts and spending time with family and friends. It's also the time that everyone decorates the Christmas Tree is decorated, particularly in European countries.

Diwali

Diwali can be described as the Hindu celebration of light. In Hinduism the concept of light is that it represents good and therefore, throughout the celebration people are known to burn candles. Also, the festival is a celebration of the folk art of Rangoli, which is believed to have been created out of the state Maharashtra. Rangoli is a bright and vibrant design that is made of different colored materials set on the floor. In the belief, this design can bring luck and shield homes from evil spirits.

New Year's Day

New Year's Day is one of the biggest days of the year . The celebrations are throughout the world. There are cities that have huge parades that draw attention from all over the world. No matter if you're celebrating with friends or family, there's a New Year's Day celebration that is sure to suit your tastes.

Columbus Day

Columbus Day is celebrated across the Americas on the 12th of October which is the anniversary of Christopher Columbus's arrival in the New World. The holiday is celebrated as it is a national holiday across many of the countries in the Americas as well as as a federal day in the United States.

Martin Luther King Jr. day

Every year, on the third Monday in January Americans take part in Martin Luther King Jr. Day, a federal holiday in honor to the Civil Rights leader and activist. His birth year was 1929. King had a significant campaigner for equality in race and nonviolent civil opposition. He also advocated against legal segregation and was the Nobel Peace Prize laureate. On this day, the public are encouraged to consider his legacy and the ideals that he championed, such as nonviolence and racial equity.

Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving holiday was first observed by colonists of New England in the early 1800s, to mark an occasion for prayer and gratitude for the nation's blessings. In 1777 Congress of the U.S. Continental Congress proclaimed it as a national day of celebration, but it was left to the actual celebration to the states later. As a result, Southerners were less than enthusiastic about the custom, and some even objected to the holiday being used for parades and speeches by partisans.

Christmas

The Christmas season can be a time for people to commemorate Jesus' birth Christ. Celebrations around Christmas involve gifting gifts to family members and friends. The custom of gift-giving dates back to the fifteenth century. Additionally, the presents serve as a symbol of thanks for God's generosity in the birth of Jesus to humanity. A poem written by Clement Moore in 1822, "Twas the Night Before Christmas," has a significant connection to religion. Saint Nicholas is also linked to the Christmas holiday. Saint Nicholas was the bishop from the early Christian religious community in Asia Minor, who left gifts for the children and even silver in stockings.

Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving Day is the national holiday in the United States and Canada. It is also observed throughout Saint Lucia, Grenada and Liberia. It originated as it was a day to celebrate giving thanks for the previous year and harvest. Similar festival holidays are celebrated with similar celebrations in Japan as well as Germany.
